Wpl 2025 retention players list of all teams 

Woman IPL, called WPL, which is the Woman Premier League, started in 2023.

Mumbai Indians were the champions of the inaugural season, whereas RCB is the defending champion and will defend their trophy in WPL 2025.

But before the 2025 WPL, there will be a mini auction taking place, and the retention of players will be announced by all the teams. Here, we will discuss the possible retentions and released players' list of all the WPL teams.

1) Gujrat giants-

A team that was last on the points table in both the previous seasons. The team led by Beth Mooney in WPL 2024, whereas in the inaugural season, Sneh Rana was the replacement captain due to Beth Mooney's injury in the very first match of the first season.

Gujarat is a team with many domestic players, but they are not up to the expectations of the team mentor Mithali Raj. The team relies heavily on foreign players, but like the domestic players, they also can't perform up to the expectations.

Beth Mooney in the previous seasons was unable to deliver with the bat, and Ashleigh Gardner was also below par with her performance.Laura was delivering with the bat sometimes, but their bowlers couldn't join the party at the right time, and that effect was clearly visible in the standings of the points table.So in every department, they lack something that they need to address before the start of the WPL 2025 season in a small mini auction, which may be difficult for them.

2) Mumbai Indians -

The champion of the very first season of the WPL played well in the next season. They are one of the balanced teams in the league with lots of good all-rounders and fast bowlers.The captain of the Indian cricket team, Harmanpreet Kaur, had good runs along with Nat Sciver and Brunt in both seasons. However, they lacked support at the end of the innings as they had a weak link at number 6 and 7.

So they were unable to finish the game efficiently, which was clearly indicated in the last season where they lost the last match against RCB due to a lack of good finishers.

And they have to miss that playoff spot.They have a very good bowling attack with fast bowlers like Shabnam Ismail, Nat Sciver, Brunt, Wong, Pooja Vastrakar, and spin bowlers like Amelia Kerr, Healey Matthews, Saika Ishaq.

They need to address that finishing spot at number 6 and 7, then they become an unbeaten team.

3) Up warriors -

The team of Australia's current captain Alyssa Healy is similar to the Gujarat Giants, as they did not qualify for either of the two seasons.They will definitely want to address all their weaknesses and excel in the playoffs in the upcoming seasons of WPL.

In the batting department, they heavily rely on foreign batters like Healy, Grace Harris, and Thalia McGrath. However, in the previous season, they couldn't deliver up to their caliber and the team finished second to last.They lack Indian quality batters.

They have some good domestic batters like Uma Chettry, Kiran Navgire, Swetha Sehrawat, but they can't cope up with the big stage of the WPL where there are a lot of quality international players participating.

They have a very good spin bowling department with the likes of Sophie Eclestone, Deepthi Sharma, Rajeshwari Gayakwad.In the last season, Deepthi contributed with the bat a lot and was the fifth highest run-getter after Ellyse Perry,Meg Lanning,shafali Verma , smriti mandhana.She was also the MVP of the season for her all-rounder performance throughout the season.

4) Delhi capitals -

Meg Lanning's 331 runs and Shafali Verma's 309 runs in the previous seasons were one of the most dangerous opening pairs in the WPL. They carried their team, contributing to about 50 percent of the runs.Delhi Capitals is one of the most dangerous teams in the WPL. They reached the final twice but were unable to win the trophy.

They have the most successful captain in cricket, whether it's men's or women's. She has won numerous trophies for Australia as well as in many cricket leagues.

They have two good all-rounders, Marizanne Kapp and Annabel Sutherland.Along with Capsey and Jess Jonassen as spin all-rounders.So they have a balanced squad.

The only lack is a good finisher at number 7, as they have Jonassen or Sutherland, but they also need support from other players.They will address this in the upcoming mini auction.

5) Royal challengers Bengaluru -

The defending champion RCB has a lot of stars, such as Smriti Mandhana, Ellyse Perry, Sophie Devine, and Richa Ghosh. They also have power hitters like Richa Ghosh, Sophie Devine, and Georgia Warhem. Additionally, they have players with class like Ellyse Perry and Smriti Mandhana.

The spin bowlers like Warhem, Sophie Molinuex, Shreynka Patil, and Asha Sobhna all performed in the final match of the previous seasons, which is why they became the champions.They will not need to address a lot of things in the upcoming mega auction as the Indian finisher batter Kanika Ahuja will return to the side after an injury in the previous season. She will definitely strengthen the batting. They need to target some good bowlers in the auction who can bowl at a decent pace.

The WPL 2025 schedule is yet to be announced, but it is expected to take place between 20 February and 20 March.

The auction for WPL  2025 will happen in November, as in previous years before the IPL 2025 mega auction.
